OpenGraph.xyz

Web App

OpenGraph.xyz is the number-one free og:image and meta tag scanner on the internet. We rebuilt it as a modern SaaS platform, bringing public tools and the previously separate authenticated dashboard into one continuous product.

The work also covered the rendering, delivery and data systems needed to operate the product reliably as it evolves.

One Product, From First Scan to Daily Workflow

OpenGraph originally had free tools on the public site and more advanced account workflows in a separate external dashboard. We redesigned the UI and UX and brought the paid, account-based tools into the marketing site as one continuous application.

The same navigation and visual language now carry users from a first preview to templates, generated images, short links and account settings. Server rendering resolves the authenticated or public experience before the page reaches the browser, avoiding client-side loading spinners and layout shifts.

Creating and Editing Templates

AI-assisted creation gives teams without design experience a practical way to produce on-brand templates. Users provide a website URL and optional instructions, and OpenGraph uses the site as a starting point for a branded design. The AI also defines dynamic variables, such as title and image, so a single template can generate tailored images for thousands of pages.

For teams that need direct control, we also built a layer-based editor. Users can arrange and reorder layers on the canvas, duplicate or rename elements, edit typography, colours and imagery, and link properties to dynamic variables. Drafts save automatically, support keyboard shortcuts and previewing, and can be published when the design is ready.

Automated Image Generation

Every published template has a versioned image endpoint that can be used from any platform to generate Open Graph images from it. Dynamic values are passed to the endpoint, allowing websites, CMSs, applications and internal systems to generate an image with ease. Hosted outputs are stored on CDNs for fast retrieval after initial generation.

Short Links With Custom Social Previews

We built short links as a connected distribution feature. A link can have its own title, description and custom og:image, independent from the destination site - a capability other short-link services do not offer. The workspace keeps the preview, destination URL and click analytics together, allowing campaign-specific sharing creative without changing the linked page.

A Platform That Keeps Improving

This is an ongoing product engagement. We continue to evolve the platform behind OpenGraph alongside its user-facing workflows, keeping image generation and delivery reliable as the product grows. PostHog analytics and chats with users inform product and UX decisions, helping us prioritise the improvements that matter most to users.
